HCL Placement procedure

HCL is one of the biggest recruiters amongst IT giants in India. HCL recruitment drives generally can be expected to have the following stages/rounds.

I. Online Test
II. HR Interview

Below we can discuss these stages in detail

I. Online Test :

HCL online test can be expected to be conducted for around 2 hours duration. Four major sections one can expect are:

1) Quantitative Aptitude
2) Verbal Questions
3) Technical Questions
4) Logical Reasoning Questions

Proportion of marks distribution amongst each of the above sections would be more or less the same. Quantitative aptitude would carry questions which are similar in nature to those found in R.S.Agarwal. However questions may not be very straightforward. They can be bit tricky. Verbal section will also be straightforward with questions from sections like comprehension, filling with right words, synonyms etc. Technical questions can be expected from sections like C and its data structures, OOPS and other basic concepts from Networks, OS etc. Logical reasoning questions (also called critical reasoning) will be simple questions testing your decision making and analytical skills.

Overall the online test will be a mixture of questions from all conventional sections.

II. HR Interview

HCL interviews are generally very easy to approach provided you stay cool before the panel. Questions would be from your resume. You could be questioned on your hobbies, co curricular activities etc. For example, if you had mentioned watching cricket as your hobby, you could expect some basic questions about cricketing stars and their records in the interview. You might also expect some superficial technical questions which should not be a problem at all.
